It was a close call between songs 'Howl' and 'Blinding' but 'Blinding' got one extra vote so that decided my song for me!
For the other songs chosen on my questionnaire ideas were suggested, for instance; 'Howl', the audience saw the song as being about a woman turning evil or into a werewolf, many of them suggested she has a wolf like costume with fur hoods/coats. Another suggestion was for 'Bird Song', they suggested a
I literally show the video doing what the lyrics say, for example showing feathers coming out of her mouth and her putting a bird in a pan (a fake one obviously). But I chose to take a suggestion for 'Blinding' from one member of my target audience and mix it with my story line for the song. Her ideas were that the song was about a girl that was sleeping or in a state whilst everyone else around her was living life. For instance you could have her and a group of friends socialising in a bar/pub and show them socialising around her yet she is sat with a blank expression just miming the lyrics. This Will emphasise the fact that she is "out of it". I have decided to combine this with an idea of my own and I will blog the final story line in the next week or so.
The majority of people I asked said that they would like to see both a performance and narrative element in the video and the majority also said they would have the singer/character in floaty light clothing and dark colours. So I will try tie this in when writing my story line. Dark rooms and a church setting occurred when I asked my audience what locations they thought would be best and a depressing tension building vibe should be created throughout the video.
I asked my audience if there was any lyrics that stood out for them in their chosen song and for those who chose 'Blinding', one chose "my eyes flew open", another chose "it was you who held me under" and my other favorite line that was chosen was "no more dreaming". I will take these lyrics into consideration when thinking about my final story line and story board. I also questioned my audience on camera angles that they think would be necessary in my video and the majority of them said that close ups of facial expressions to show emotion would work and also close up of the body parts mentioned in the song.
My questionnaire results have really helped me and will help me greatly when it comes to story boarding and filming my video as I will take the audiences opinions and preferences into consideration.
